Corporate income tax, special tax on financial institutions

(Tax law changes adopted in summer 2021)

 

The autumn tax law package did not make any changes to the above-mentioned tax items, but the following changes were adopted with the summer 2021 tax law changes, which will come into force on 1 January 2022.

 

Corporate income tax

As of 1 January 2022, a hybrid entity registered or domiciled in Hungary will be considered a resident taxpayer if its non-resident majority owner is a resident of a tax jurisdiction that also treats the hybrid entity as subject to local corporate tax or equivalent (with the exception of investment vehicles subject to investor protection in Hungary).

 

Special tax on financial institutions

As of 1 January 2022, the special tax liability of stock exchanges, commodity exchange service providers and venture capital fund managers will be abolished.
