EPR registration deadline is approaching!

There are only a few days left for MOHU registration!

As we have already informed you in our previous newsletters, companies that are obliged to pay the EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) fee have to register twice: the first registration has to be completed on the Mol Zrt. web interface (MOHU) by 30 April, while the second registration has to be completed with the Waste Management Authority by 31 May.

Who is affected by the EPR fee?

  • for those who are currently submitting the product fee return
  • free or charge-back transferors of circular products
  • users who import circular products from abroad and sell them domestically or use them for their own purposes,
  • companies that buy packaging and sell their products as packaging.

(ATTENTION! It is not the manufacturer of the packaging who is liable, but the person who uses the packaging as packaging material.)

What are the responsibilities of the obligated parties?

  1. Compulsory registration

Companies must register with MOHU by 30 April 2023

  1. Registration

Following MOHU registration, companies must apply to the waste management authority for registration, the deadline for which is 31 May 2023.

  1. Establishment of a registration system

From this date, companies will be required to keep up-to-date records, according to the criteria set out in the Regulation, to track the movements of their EPR-affected products.

An important element of this is the new circular (CF) coding for products and packaging as set out in the Regulation.

  1.  Regular payment of the EPR fee

It is expected that the first submission of data will take place by the 20th of the month following the third quarter of 2023 when the first EPR fees will be due.

24 April, 2023
