Tax refund declaration now available on the website of the tax authority
As already indicated in our previous newsletter, the tax authority provides a declaration for tax refunds for those individuals with children for whom no complete information are available at the tax authority for the tax refunds. This declaration can be found now on the website of the tax authority (HU): https://www.nav.gov.hu/nav/ado/szja/szja_visszaterites).
The declaration should be filled in and submitted primarily by those who:
- is entitled to family allowance but is not the person who claims it,
- is entitled to family tax allowance but does not claim it during the year,
- is entitled to family tax allowance but is claimed in full by their spouse/registered partner during the year,
- is pregnant with her child (if the 91st day of pregnancy is reached by 31 December 2021 at the latest),
- his spouse/registered partner is pregnant with a child (if the 91st day of pregnancy is reached by 31 December 2021 at the latest)
- does not want to receive the tax refund at their home address, but on a bank account not known by the tax authority.
Individuals with Client Gate access can complete and submit the declaration online, including via a mobile phone app, but it is also possible to complete the declaration on paper and submit it in person or return it by post.
In the online version, the available data will be filled in automatically after entering Client Gate portal. The tax authority suggests that it is worth waiting until the second week of November to return the declaration online, as it is expected that the family allowance transfer data will be uploaded at that time and, if all the data is found to be correct, it will not be necessary to return the declaration.
The deadline for submitting the declaration is 31 December 2021. Individuals who fail to return the declaration by this deadline and the tax authority does not have all the information necessary to assess eligibility for the tax refund, will only be able to claim the tax refund in their income tax return for 2021.
